I have used System Restore already to try and fix the problem, choosing a restore point a few days prior to any recent updates or system changes I made but the problem remains. Then, when I lift the lid to wake the system, nothing happens and I have to do a hard shut down. I have waited for around ten minutes but nothing changes. Shutĭown and reboot both perform as expected but whenever I try to use the sleep function, either by closing the lid or via the start menu options, the screen simply goes black and the laptop continues to run - the fan is active and the hard drive light flickers
I rarely shut down or reboot the system and very rarely use Hibernate, instead opting to simply use the sleep function when I close the lid. I have a HP laptop running Win7 64-bit which has developed an issue when using the Sleep and Hibernate functions.
